Adobe pdf Reader has stopped working?

Wednesday, March 16th, 2011

My Adobe pdf reader has stopped working. Where I have pdf files saved, the “adobe” icon has vanished. And when I try to open existing files or new pdf attachments it attempts to open them using Word and I get a “file conversion” screen.

I have tried all the obvious. I have un-installed all the Adobe software and reinstalled and I have checked for newer versions – nothing has worked.

I am using Vista.

Any suggestions please (in simple English as I am technophobic!)

How do I get a pdf file to open without the dialogue box asking if you want to “Open” or “Save” file

Thursday, March 10th, 2011

I converted a Word.doc file to a pdf file using Adobe online conversion. I uploaded the pdf file to my web page and made a link to the pdf file. When I click on the link…a dialogue box opens asking to “Open” “Save” or “Cancel”. I would like the Adobe file to open without this download dialgue box where the Adobe reader just starts initializing and opening the file. I have seen this on other sites. I don’t want that little dialogue box popping up.
What settings? On the same computer the adobe initializes differently on different sites. One particular site doesn’t ask if you want to save or open the file…the adobe reader just initializes

Windows vista can’t open pdf files?

Wednesday, March 2nd, 2011

Whenever I try to open a pdf file, this file conversion box pops up instead, telling me to “select the encoding that makes the document readable”, and when I click OK for various options, it just opens up a blank page with garbled text. I need to open pdf files to review my exams. Please help!
I forgot to add that I already installed Adobe reader X :(

Sunday, February 20th, 2011

I installed Adobe X reader on my new Windows 7 lap top. When I tried to print a document to adobe printer, I was not able to select adobe printer as an option for printer. I checked the printers section and I do not see Adobe pdf printer. How do I enable or get the adobe pdf printer? Thanks.
thanks. I am trying to print documents to pdf rather than print via ink printer. I guess I am creating a pdf document. I some how have the adobe printer in some of my machines. Having said that I do have word 2010, how do I create pdf docs through word 2010?
Thanks.

How can I keep the page where I was last reading a PDF on Adobe Reader?

Saturday, February 19th, 2011

I am reading an eBook on pdf format that is just too long for me to finish in just one sitting. Last time, I just write the page number on a piece of paper. Easy. But being Adobe Reader a software for “reading”, it seems silly to me not having some way to keep the page where I was. The so-called “bookmarks” is just a table of contents with links to the pages the editor believed were the most important. That’s fine. But… there is any way I can “bookmark” the pdf myself (on Reader, not Acrobat or so)? Some script or plug-in for Reader, or maybe a third-party solution? I would appreciate not having “format conversion” answers… I want to keep it as pdf. I just want to know if it’s possible to save the page …

How do I write text in an Adobe Reader pdf?

Thursday, February 10th, 2011

I am trying to apply for a job and they have an adobe job application. Thing is I can’t write my application information into the adobe pdf. How do I do this? Is it a matter of clicking on something?

Also, I have to email it back as a word document. How do I do that? It seems to give no conversion to word options.

(Mind you, I have old versions of both Adobe and Word…circa 2004)
